• Light Series Handpans •

The Light Series handpan is a model offered by Celestial Sound specifically designed and developed for enthusiasts that are new to the instrument. Every aspect of this model is tailored with the beginner handpan player in mind.

We have been able to hand craft these instruments in the very same place in which all Celestial Sound handpans are made, and by the same hands.

The Light Series is made from locally sourced stainless steel in a smaller and more ergonomic size of 50 cm diameter and offers two contrasting scales, an F Venus 9 (minor) and F Juno 9 (major).

The Light Series is available for immediate purchase, we do not accept pre-orders. Each instrument will include a Hardcase Technologies Simply case, microfibre cloth and sachet of oil. They start at AUD $1,690, plus GST and shipping.

Celestial Sound Devotion and warranty.

The scales we designed are simplified versions of the popular scales known as the Celtic Minor/Amara (minor) and the SabyeD/Ashakiran (major).

These are named after the goddess Venus and Juno. We have specifically designed these simple hexatonic scale variations so that they are versatile and easy to navigate. This means they do not require musical knowledge to produce a pleasant and musical sound. You will be composing on these in no time!

Our focus with the Light Series has been to craft the most practical instrument at the most affordable price. The absolute priority we focus on is the stability of the notes, which is incredibly rare in any beginner handpan. We believe that as a musical instrument, it is vital that it will stay in tune over time as you play it. We believe this reflects the integrity of the instrument as a whole.

Warranty and Devotion

Your instrument comes with a 12 month warranty against any manufacturing defects once registered. Warranty includes, but not limited to, the stability of the notes, glue securing the two shells, and the case that the instrument comes with.

Care, Maintenance and Service

These instruments are best played with a delicate hand, making sure to use only one finger at a time (refrain striking it with a palm like a djembe). As the instrument is made of metal, remove rings, bracelets, long necklaces or any other metal or hard jewellery that may scratch the surface of the pan. Please note that mallets or drumsticks may void your warranty.

The two most common issues experienced with handpans is rust and de-tuning. To protect from rust, your instrument comes with a microfibre cloth and this is to be used after each time you play the instrument to remove any potential contaminants that may promote rust. It is a good idea to oil your instrument fortnightly. A variety of different oils can be used for this. We recommend Phoenix Oil, however if you wish to use a different type of oil, please check the Celestial Sound FAQ and Maintenance pages before applying.

Additionally, the instrument should not be stored in the case as moisture can get trapped in the case and this will cause rust. Make sure it is stored outside the case in a safe, dry place.

It is likely, in time, that your instrument will need a tune up. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us to organise a re-tune, or referral to an approved maker/tuner. Having unauthorised repairs carried out may affect your warranty.

Please note that each instrument is crafted by hand with unique steel and therefore the aesthetic appearance of each instrument will naturally vary as a result of the build process and any imperfections in the steel. We call these “birth marks”. Each instrument is carefully inspected before it is shipped out to ensure that none of these birth marks will affect the instrument and it’s longevity in any way.
